About Return

Return is rapidly becoming a key player in Europe’s evolving energy landscape. With

large-scale energy storage systems comparable in size to the Borssele nuclear power

plant, Return ensures that renewable energy is stored safely, reliably, and efficiently. To

support this mission, we are building a brand-new Operations & Control Center (OCC) —

the beating heart of our real-time monitoring and incident response.

We are now hiring OCC Operators who will help safeguard the continuity of our critical

infrastructure.

Role Overview

As an OCC Operator, you are responsible for the real-time monitoring of Return’s energy

storage systems. You detect anomalies, respond to alarms, coordinate with technical

teams, and ensure that all operational processes run safely and smoothly. You work in a

24/7 shift environment where accuracy, calmness, and situational awareness are

essential.

You will be part of the first generation of operators in this new OCC, meaning you’ll help

shape procedures, workflows, and best practices from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Return’s energy storage systems through SCADA, dashboards, and other

control-room tools

  • Detect, assess, and respond to alarms, deviations, and operational risks
  • Coordinate with field engineers, maintenance teams, and external partners during

incidents

  • Follow established protocols to ensure safe and reliable operations
  • Log events, incidents, and operational decisions accurately and consistently
  • Support continuous improvement of OCC processes and monitoring standards
  • Maintain situational awareness during high-pressure or multi-incident scenarios
  • Contribute to the development of a high-performance, safety-driven OCC culture

What You Bring

  • Experience in a technical 24/7 environment (energy, water, industry, chemical,

infra, utilities, etc.) Familiarity with monitoring systems such as SCADA, DCS, or industrial control systems

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • A structured, calm, and safety-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, especially during operational incidents
  • Ability to follow procedures while also identifying opportunities for improvement
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to help build a new OCC from scratch
