Redefine the world of orthotics and prosthetics
Not too long ago, a man walked into our office with a guitar under his arm. He had written a song for Manometric - and for the first time in three years, he could play again. All thanks to a small, perfectly fitting hand brace.
That’s what we build. At Manometric, we design and produce custom orthoses using proprietary 3D scanning, smart software and scalable production - working directly with hospitals and clinics across the Netherlands and expanding into Germany. As we grow fast, the challenge shifts towards building better products: combining design, engineering and user insight into solutions that people actually want to wear. That’s why we’re hiring a Industrial Design Engineer. Someone who can turn ideas into tangible products and help shape the next generation of our orthoses and scanners.
The role you play in our growth
As we scale, product development shifts from execution to innovation. The challenges you'll work on are no longer individual components, but the future of our product portfolio. From developing entirely new orthosis concepts to improving how we design, validate and manufacture at scale, you'll own complex development projects from the very beginning through to production.
We set the bar high. From day one, you'll take ownership of your own projects, making technical decisions, aligning stakeholders and driving products from initial concept to production-ready solutions. You combine user insights, engineering principles and rapid prototyping to create products that not only perform technically, but genuinely improve people's lives.
Working closely with engineers, software developers, clinicians and manufacturing partners, you'll design, prototype, test and iterate while continuously challenging existing assumptions and pushing our products forward. Beyond designing great products, you'll play an active role in shaping how our design team works, improving development processes and raising the technical standard across the organisation. You'll join a team of Vincent, Tom, Daan, Rik, Max and Martijn, where you'll have the autonomy to lead multidisciplinary projects and the opportunity to grow into one of the technical leaders of the team.
What you’ll be doing
- Own end-to-end product development: from concept to production-ready medical devices.
- Design, prototype, validate and iterate based on user and clinical insights.
- Lead your own projects, working with internal teams and external partners.
- Select materials, manufacturing partners and drive production decisions.
- Apply your knowledge of 3D printing, soft goods, silicones and composites.
- Translate complex challenges into scalable product solutions.
- Turn user needs into products people genuinely want to wear.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a design engineer who wants more than just designing. Someone who:
- Is going to join a team of exceptional designers. We hire for talent, not tenure. An outstanding portfolio with exceptional visual quality and clear storytelling is what matters most.
- Combines conceptual thinking with technical execution to bring products from idea to production.
- Takes ownership and independently leads complex development projects.
- Translates user insights into smart, scalable and beautifully designed products.
- Understands materials, manufacturing processes and production at scale (3D printing is a strong plus).
- Challenges assumptions, raises the technical bar and enjoys solving difficult problems.
- Speaks fluent English (Dutch is a bonus).
- Has a strong eye for design aesthetics and attention to detail.
What we offer
We believe building products that reshape orthopaedic care will already get your heart racing - but of course, there’s more:
- A competitive salary between €4000 - €5500 gross per month, depending on experience
- 25 vacation days and a solid pension scheme of 10%
- Flexible hours and the option to work hybrid
- A fast-growing company with direct impact on thousands of lives
- A multidisciplinary team of designers, hardware engineers and software developers
- Close collaboration with Vincent, Daan, Tom, Martijn, Max, Rik and many more
- Plenty of room to grow into technical or leadership roles
- An open, entrepreneurial environment with real ownership and freedom in how you work
Your next step
Ready to help us reinvent healthcare? We've already scanned over 50,000 hands and we're just getting started. Apply now and help shape the future.
