Job Opportunity: Controls Engineer

Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for gas turbine technology, controls, and instrumentation? Thomassen Energy is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead controls projects, provide technical support, and drive innovation in our industry-leading operations.

About the Role

As a Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring technical excellence and timely execution of controls, instrumentation, and electrical projects. From designing and enhancing control systems to troubleshooting gas turbines, your expertise will contribute directly to our success.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance existing control systems and perform on-site commissioning and startup.
• Develop specifications for new control software and hardware for installations.
• Troubleshoot gas turbine control logic on-site or via remote access.
• Manage controls projects, ensuring schedules and milestones are achieved.
• Advise the Commercial team on technical aspects of quotations and specifications.
• Analyze gas turbine performance using remote monitoring systems and draft evaluation reports.
• Research and recommend potential development and innovation opportunities.

Specific Tasks

• Collaborate with external vendors and oversee factory acceptance testing.
• Support installation, commissioning, and validation of systems in the field.
• Facilitate data exchange between engineering groups, field service, and commercial teams.
• Draft technical specifications and engineering information letters.
• Provide expertise in controls, electrical, and instrumentation matters.

Your Profile

Education:

• M.Sc. in Electrical/Electronics/Physics or a B.Sc. with equivalent experience.

Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in gas turbines and turbine control systems.
• Proficiency in programming Speedtronic control systems (MKV / MKVI / MKVIe) and/or Siemens PCS7.
• Experience with SCADA systems such as Cimplicity or WinCC.
• Knowledge of functional safety and protection systems for driven equipment.

Personal Skills:

• Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated.
• Strong prioritization skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch or another European language is a plus.
