As a Fisheries Research Assistant at Wageningen Marine Research (WMR), you will be involved in various fisheries research projects. In this dynamic and varied role, you will often be at sea. With your practical experience on the water and with fish, you will ensure that the necessary research can be carried out effectively.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Collecting fish and fisheries data during monitoring activities (this will take place at fish auctions, in our research facility, on board fishing vessels, research ships, or in WMR’s research space).
• Carrying out various tasks related to fish research during sailing trips or in WMR’s research facility, following established protocols. Sailing trips can range from a single day to several weeks.
• Recording research data in the software used by WMR and identifying any irregularities.

You will work with different colleagues in various project groups focused on marine fisheries. Your base of operations will be the offices and research facilities of Wageningen Marine Research in IJmuiden.

For multi-day or multi-week sailing trips, you will receive an additional allowance as compensation for overtime and challenging working conditions. Additionally, you have:

• A strong interest in fish and fisheries. Experience in marine fisheries is a plus.
• Vocational (MBO) working and thinking level.
• Flexibility in your working hours due to multi-day or multi-week sailing trips.
• A category B driving license. A trailer license (E) and a boating license are an advantage, but obtaining these licenses is possible.
• Proficiency in the Dutch language.
