The Operations Manager will oversee and manage various projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and service quality.

This role involves managing project timelines, budgets, and resources while ensuring project goals align with company objectives and industry regulations.

Projects are in operational facilities in the Netherlands (Rotterdam, Farmsum) and potentially also UK (Crayford, Teesside and Hartlepool). The location for this position is flexible.

Main tasks & responsibilities

The most important tasks, activities and responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Management
  • Plan, initiate, and manage project from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Operational Excellence
  • Analyse current operations to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with various departments to streamline operations and enhance productivity and service quality.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and improve future project outcomes.
• Compliance and Safety
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards.
• Strong collaboration with plant managers, maintenance managers and technology & innovation team.
• Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor project teams / project team members (also in a matrix set up), ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to monitor progress and address any issues or concerns.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare and present project reports, including progress updates, financial summaries, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, ensuring accessibility and transparency.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, both internal and external.

Main Requirements & Experience

The main job requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the waste management or environmental services industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Office etc. is a plus)
