Job Description

As a Data Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers who design, build and maintain the data infrastructure. This infrastructure supports our business intelligence, analytics and data-driven decision-making processes. You will work closely with various departments to translate technical requirements into workable data solutions that align with business goals. This role is ideal for someone with both strategic and hands-on experience in data engineering who enjoys leading teams and translating technology into tangible business outcomes.

Responisibilities

• Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with internal teams (e.g., sales, operations) and external stakeholders (e.g., customers) to gather valuable input and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between the data engineering team and other departments, translating business needs into technical requirements and ensuring data solutions align with business goals.
• Technical Development: Design and implement data architectures, pipelines and storage solutions, engaging in hands-on coding, code reviews and esuring adherence to best practices in data engineering.
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and providing growth opportunities for the team.
• Project Management: Define project requirements and work with various departments to monitor the progress of data-related projects and participate in testing.
• Advisory and Alignment: Advise BI and data colleagues on data modeling and reporting, aligning goals and best practices with data users, producers and consumers.

Requirements

• IT education, preferably at the bachelor's or master's level.
• A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in data management or business analysis.
• Expertise in data engineering, including database design, ETL processes and programming languages such as SQL, Python or Scala. Experience with cloud data technologies is a plus.
• Experience with Power BI or other datra visualization tools.
• Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset.
• Self-directed, flexible and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills in both Dutch and English.

Working Conditions

• Full-time positon (32-40 hours per week).
• Salary indication: € 4200 - € 5500, depending on experience and skills.
• Reports directly to the IT Director and collaborates closely with the BI team, Sales, Operations and IT departments.
