JOB SUMMARY
In this role you will be responsible for managing the company's energy use and climate strategy to ensure sustainability and compliance with environmental laws. This crucial role focuses on energy and climate initiatives, playing a central part in customer relations and responding to queries about our sustainability efforts. Duties include calculating carbon footprints, giving CO2-related presentations, and coordinating with teams to address client needs. Daily tasks involve tracking sustainability trends and regulations, creating marketing content to showcase our work, and organizing internal requests to enhance our carbon management approach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strategic development entails formulating and executing a detailed energy and climate strategy that supports the company's business aims and sustainability targets, as well as establishing and maintaining an Energy Management System (EnMS) in line with ISO 50001 or relevant standards.
  • Policy formulation involves creating and revising company policies and procedures to manage energy use, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and combat climate change.
  • Emissions tracking and reduction by overseeing and reducing the company's carbon footprint by setting and striving for emissions reduction goals.
  • Regulatory compliance and reporting by guaranteeing the company's adherence to energy and climate regulations, including required reports and disclosures.
  • Market and regulatory monitoring and staying updated on sustainability trends, laws, and best practices, focusing on carbon management and climate change, to guide company strategy and client communication.
  • Stakeholder engagement, including company leaders, staff, clients, suppliers, and regulators, in energy and climate initiatives. Develop communication programs to boost awareness of the company's energy strategy and progress.
  • Risk assessment, identifying and mitigating risks related to fluctuations in energy costs, climate change effects, and shifts in regulations.
  • Budget management for energy and climate initiatives, aiming for efficient and effective resource allocation.
  • Training and capacity building by creating and conducting training to enhance in-house expertise and awareness in energy and climate management.
  • Innovation and best practices in keeping up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices for ongoing improvement in energy and climate management.
  • Performance measurement of set goals, KPIs, and action plans for energy and climate; tracking and reporting on their progress.
  • Sustainability marketing and communication by crafting marketing content and reports to convey the company's sustainability efforts, carbon data, and eco-commitments to stakeholders.
  • Internal coordination and ensuring company-wide communication and collaboration for unified sustainability efforts. Leading the energy management team across different sites and working with other departments.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS & RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reporting to the Global Head of SHEQ & Sustainability.
  • Internal - CEO, Senior Management, Global Head SHEQ & Sustainability, Corporate SHEQ team, Corporate Affairs team, General Managers, Site SHEQ Managers, Site Energy Managers, Supply chain and procurement team.
  • External - Trafigura CHESS team, Trafigura Commercial team, Customers, suppliers and contractors, Regulatory Bodies and Government Agencies, Certification Bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Energy Manager) is a plus.
  • 5+ years experience in energy management, sustainability, or environmental roles in a corporate setting.
  • Experience in energy efficiency, conservation programs, and renewable energy projects.
  • Proven success in project management with budgeting and resource skills.
  • Regulatory compliance and reporting knowledge.
  • Familiar with international energy, climate protocols, and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis tools/software for energy and environmental tracking.
  • Leadership skills to manage teams and initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with integration skills for energy and climate in corporate strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy markets, procurement, and energy efficiency technologies.
  • Understanding of climate change science, greenhouse gas accounting, and risk management.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and standards for energy, emissions, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptable and capable of juggling multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
