We’re looking for an Intern in the Signify Foundation to join our Signify Foundation Team in Amsterdam.

The Signify Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organization funded by Signify in 2017. In recent years it has received recognition and funding from external funders. It works to enable sustainable access to the benefits of lighting for underserved communities all around the world.

At the end of 2021, it celebrated a fulfilled commitment to share the power of light with seven million people, with over 100 projects on the ground. These projects focus on geographies across sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

The foundation’s work focuses on three pillars:

• Lighting lives: About 1 billion people worldwide have no access to reliable electric light. Through Foundation projects and programs, we aim to bring light to these communities to enable improved sanitation practices, health, gender equity, livelihood generation, and economic growth;

• Lighting entrepreneurs: we aim to help communities in capacity-building to take ownership of lighting solutions. We support technical training and the development of business operations;

• Humanitarian lighting: we provide support by delivering lighting interventions when disaster strikes – from political conflict to natural disaster, or global health crises where energy supplies are often impacted, and infrastructures must be repaired quickly.

As an Intern in the Signify Foundation you’ll be supporting ongoing and new programs and projects that align with the Foundation’s mission and support our goals. You will be part of discussions with the Foundation Board and partners to learn about our growth strategies. Most importantly, you will work with passionate people and organizations around the world to make an impact.

What you’ll do

• Support execution, monitoring and evaluation of ongoing programs and projects. For this, you will work closely with implementing partners and Signify country offices, and continuously learn from new insights and improve our assessment and evaluation framework.

• Support our fundraising efforts.

• Collaborate with the team on i.e., communications, research, Board meeting preparations.

• You will report to the Foundation Director and work closely with everyone on the Foundation team.

Your qualifications

• You have a relevant background in the field of Developmental Studies, (Corporate) Sustainability, Social Development/Socio-economic Studies, Gender Studies or in a related field (Bachelor/Master's student).

• You are passionate about and committed to the mission of the Signify Foundation.

• You have excellent research, interpersonal and communication skills.

• You display a high level of integrity, stress resistance, proactivity, flexibility, and creativity.

• You are a self-starter and an absolute team player.

• You are available for one year and able to start in early/mid December 2024
