Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of big hit VR titles like Arizona Sunshine, The 7th Guest and the highly anticipated Metro Awakening. Our Amsterdam studio is gearing up to start development for a big IP project and we are looking to recruit a Senior Concept Artist who can aid us in our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce high quality concept art that supports the direction and aids 3D artists, VFX artists and designers in their work.
• Generate drawings, paintings, and mood boards based on task briefs.
• Create production ready designs for environments, utilizing both 3D sketch models and 2D paint overs, in close collaboration with fellow artists and designers.
• Proactively seek feedback from the Art Director and the Art Leads and keep them informed on the status of assigned tasks.
• Guide and mentor more junior artists to accelerate their progress within the studio.
• Actively engage in ongoing learning within the medium, identifying effective techniques, potential challenges, and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
• Validate your own designs in the VR headset.

Your profile

• Mastery of essential art principles including lighting, perspective, composition, architecture and design, enabling the creation of compelling and immersive worlds.
• Experienced in cross-team collaboration, good at proactively gathering feedback and information from several teams.
• Strong communication skills, comfortable with asking questions and able to explain your decisions effectively.
• Clear understanding of the game development pipeline and how concept art can effectively support it.
• Ability to provide numerous solutions that effectively consider both budgetary constraints and the technological limitations of VR.
• Capability to create well-thought-out designs that emphasize functionality and effectively convey the narrative of the world.

Bonus points for

• Previous experience in Concept Art for AAA titles strongly preferred.
• Good grasp of 3D modeling tools and Unreal Engine is strongly preferred.
• A strong desire to innovate within the medium of immersive technology.
• The technical aptitude to grasp new tools and processes quickly.
