Your mission
QuantWare is seeking a Measurement Engineer to join our team at the forefront of quantum computing innovation. In this role, you will take ownership of advanced measurement and characterization of superconducting quantum processors. Key responsibilities include optimizing gates and readout performance on new hardware architectures and contributing to the development of large scale experimental setups supporting up to hundreds of qubits. Your work will also involve the development of the foundational building blocks of quantum error correction (QEC). We encourage engineers with a strong background in any of these areas to apply.
This position provides the opportunity to drive innovation in quantum measurement while contributing to the development of scalable quantum computing hardware. Collaborating closely with our multidisciplinary development teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing the performance of QuantWare’s products.
Your profile
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Measurement Protocols: Contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of cutting-edge measurement protocols that advance the fidelity and performance of quantum gates and readout. Your work will play a pivotal role in building the experimental capabilities needed for demonstrating QEC protocols.
Cryo Lab Innovation: Lead the enhancement of cryogenic lab setups to support the next generation of quantum hardware. This includes optimizing wiring, filtering, and electromagnetic shielding to reduce noise and cross-talk, as well as developing advanced thermalization strategies to ensure stable operation of increasingly large and complex quantum devices.
Code Development: Write, debug, and optimize measurement software using Python-based tools and frameworks like Quantify or QCoDeS to automate and streamline experiments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to iterate on quantum device designs, ensuring seamless integration of experimental results into the development cycle.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in industry or in a research and development environment.
OR Doctorate in Physics, Engineering.
Experience:
In-depth knowledge of superconducting qubits.
Extensive hands-on expertise with cryostats and qubit specific control electronics.
Proficiency in Python programming for experiment automation; experience with frameworks like Quantify, QCoDeS, or similar is a plus.
Skills:
Proven ability to design and execute complex experiments with precision and reproducibility.
Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail in both experimental and operational aspects of the role.
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across disciplines.
What We Offer:
- The opportunity to perform cutting-edge work on advanced quantum processing units.
- Ownership of setups in a state-of-the-art cryogenic lab, with the chance to innovate and expand their capabilities.
- A collaborative, international environment at the forefront of quantum technology, working alongside world-class experts.
- Significant opportunities for growth, project ownership, and career development.
- Flexible vacation policy, competitive benefits (including a pension scheme and travel allowances), and engaging team activities.
