Job description
To support our continued successful growth, we are looking for a motivated, proactive and independently thinking Senior Scientist.

As a Senior Scientist you are responsible for coordinating large-scale, multidisciplinary research and innovation activities for the introduction of new and optimization of existing KLK Oleo products, processes and methods with a strong focus on meeting our customers’ (future) needs and expectations.
As a Senior Scientist at KLK Kolb Specialties you use your chemical and analytical expertise to optimize existing and create new products, processes and methods. The function requires a strong focus on delivering high-quality products which meet our customers’ needs and expectations. It also requires the ability to multitask and switch gears as you will be working on both new product developments with a short time to market and challenging research projects requiring an analytical mindset and out-of-the-box thinking.

Location and position
You will be part of the R&D team of KLK Oleo Europe, located in Delden, consisting of 25 FTE. As a Senior Scientist within the R&D Specialties team you will be responsible for the introduction and further development of innovative processes and products and provide support to KLK Oleo’s production locations.
You will work within a team of scientists and chemists, participate in multidisciplinary, international projects, and report to the team leader R&D Specialties.
Responsibility areas/Core tasks
  • Coordinating and/or executing (literature) research programs in response to internal and external customer questions;
  • Staying up-to-date and share relevant developments within your field of expertise;
  • Introducing (innovative) sustainable products and processes;
  • Coordinating and performing specialistic laboratory research, including (ad hoc) practical work;
  • Developing, maintaining and propagating relevant developments within the specialism;
  • Developing/optimizing products/processes and methods/techniques;
  • Interpretating and reporting of research data/results to stakeholders;
  • Participating in strategical discussions and meetings, both internally and externally, with customers and partners
  • Guiding and supervising production trial batches of new product developments;
  • Providing advice on (production) problems and guidance for troubleshooting activities, both internally and externally;
  • Identifying details/deviations to ensure adequate solutions and advice regarding problems;
  • Transferring knowledge to other parties involved in the form of oral and written reports, but also co-instruction and training;
  • Being a role model in our safety culture.
As a candidate you have the following knowledge, experience and competences;
  • Completed university education in organic chemistry (PhD);
  • Living in the direct area of Delden (NL);
  • Working experience (minimum 3 years) with new product development and organic synthesis, in industrial environment and scale-up;
  • Result-oriented with good analytical skills;
  • Skills to be able to work in a team as well as independently;
  • Communicative skills with excellent knowledge of the English language (Dutch is a pre);
  • Excellent project (coordination) management skills;
  • Pro-active, broad and open minded, enthusiastic attitude.

  • A all-in salary between € 70.000 and € 80.00 gross a year (depending on knowledge and experience and based on a full-time job);
