Senior Mechanical Project Engineer – Innovative Marine Propulsion
Vetus is seeking a highly skilled and creative mechanical engineer to play a key role in the development of a revolutionary retractable propulsion system. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge marine technology, designing and engineering mechanical systems that seamlessly integrate into modern vessels.
We are looking for a pragmatic and hands-on engineer who thrives in an innovative environment, can manage projects from concept to market launch, and enjoys tackling complex mechanical challenges. The role requires strong expertise in mechanical design, kinematics, and system integration, along with the ability to collaborate with external development and production partners.
Your Role
- Lead the mechanical development of innovative marine propulsion solutions.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle, from concept, prototyping, and validation to production handover.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, external suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
- Ensure designs meet functional, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- Support improvements and optimizations of existing Vetus products.
- Provide technical expertise to Sales, Service, and Marketing teams when required.
Your Profile
- HBO+ (Bachelor or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Strong background in mechanism design, motion systems, and structural analysis.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience with materials selection, machining, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of marine, automotive, or industrial machinery is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to testing and validation.
- Fluent in Dutch or English.
