Are you passionate about sustainability? We are looking for a Research Coordinator who can dedicate 2 days a week to sustainable research, collaboration, and impact.

Job Description
Sustainability is one of the core principles of Maastricht University because, by instilling sustainability principles, students are empowered to address pressing global challenges, from climate change to social inequalities. Research is also crucial for sustainability, as it provides solutions, informs decisions, and drives the changes that are necessary to create a sustainable world.



Sustainable UM 2030 (SUM2030) is the change program at our university trying to infuse sustainability into the DNA of the organisation. The SUM2030 programme has three pillars: education, research, and operations. The Research Coordinator coordinates and executes the research activities aiming to initiate and expand research collaborations between researchers of the six UM faculties, identify and develop sustainability research themes and projects across the university, to promote collaborations between UM researchers and external (regional) partners. The Research Coordinator will also take part in discussions on how to further shape and develop the research part of SUM2030.



Requirements
We are looking for an active junior researcher to join our team. You have a clear passion for sustainability and a demonstrated affinity for the topic. You are eager to actively contribute to a more sustainable future and combine this with excellent communication skills and a hands-on mentality. You are a connector who brings people together, fosters collaboration, and has successfully demonstrated this in practice. You have experience in organizing events and in building and nurturing communities to drive engagement and collective action. Additionally, you have experience in academic research and a good command of the English language. This position is for 0.35 FTE. Depending on the performance and development of SUM 2030, the position may be extended after one year.

What we offer
As a Sustainability Research Coordinator at The School of Business and Economics you will be employed by the most international university of the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is in graded in scale 11 according to the UFO Lecturer, function level 2 with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from € 4.492 to € 6.148 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus are applicable.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0.35 FTE. If proven suitable, the employment contract will be converted into an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
