What is the role about?

As a digital asset provider, Bitvavo has the responsibility to protect its clients against malicious actors, and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. As a firm offering service for the exchange between digital assets and regular money, we are subject to European anti-money-laundering laws and regulations and are supervised by the Dutch Central Bank. It is important to ensure that we comply with licensing requirements, internal policies and other prevailing laws. And that's where you come into play.

As a KYC Team Lead you will be part of our KYC & Onboarding team, which is part of our Operations department. The KYC & Onboarding team ensures the quality of our operational KYC processes.

You will face multiple challenges as we are growing quickly throughout Europe. You will coordinate and streamline the retail onboarding workflows and will lead our team of KYC agents. You will be the team's retail onboarding stakeholder for our Financial Crime Officers, Quality Assurance Officers, Data team and Compliance Officers. You will play a role in implementing a more data-driven approach to our work. You will report to our Onboarding Manager.

How will you make an impact?

Within the KYC & Onboarding team you will be mainly focussed on:

  • Together with your team process all KYC activities to ensure a smooth onboarding of our individual clients. We operate 7 days a week so flexibility is required.
  • Coordinating the operational workflows and handling escalations.
  • Ensure weekly management reporting on operational workflows.
  • Implementing new onboarding systems and processes.
  • Identifying and implementing ongoing improvements for performed KYC activities
  • Identifying potential financial crime and fraud threats and taking adequate measures

How will you be successful?

  • Preferably 4-6 years of working experience in KYC/Onboarding
  • Experience with leading/guiding a team of analysts
  • Experience with data-driven working and process automation
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of EU FEC and AML regulations
  • Prior experience with performing KYC activities and leading improvement projects within a dynamic and regulated (FinTech) environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Structured thinker who can prioritise issues and is an enthusiastic problem solver
