To support our team at the a&o Hostel Amsterdam Zuidoost we are looking for YOU! A hardworking and independent (Assistant) Cook (m/f/x) for our restaurant service.

As a cook (m/f/x) at our shelter for asylum seekers you play a crucial role in preparing nutritious meals in very large quantities according to an existing menu cycle and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the 900 residents. You will be part of a team of about 10 cooks committed to providing comfort and support to people in vulnerable situations.

• Salary depending on experience between 2.446€ - 2.800€ gross / month

• Preparation of varied buffet style breakfast, hot lunch and dinner for approximately 900 residents, taking into account cultural background and any dietary groups
• Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, following applicable guidelines and legislation
• Purchasing through our local and regional suppliers is handled by other colleagues, but with input from the cooking team

• Demonstrated experience as a cook, or demonstrable affinity with food preparation or in case of no/insufficient work experience a motivation for your passion
• Creativity with the ability to prepare tasty meals in a beautiful buffet presentation
• Team player with good communication skills
• Dutch is not required, but if you don’t speak Dutch, fluency in English is a must. Arabic is a plus
• HACCP certificate or Social Hygiene or willingness to obtain these during your employment
