Description
We’re excited to launch our UK business, Vintage Cash Cow, in Europe, and we’re currently setting up our European sister company, Arcavindi, out of a fantastic space just outside of Arnhem, in order to accommodate all business operations and our ever growing team. This warehouse will fulfill orders for the Netherlands, Germany, and France and we’re looking for experienced Appraisers to build and support this growth!
At Arcavindi, the Appraisals Team plays a vital role in ensuring the accurate valuation of every product that comes through our doors. As the first point of contact with our customers' goods, we carefully assess each box to provide a fair and transparent offer to every customer. As we scale our European operations in the Netherlands, we’re building this critical team from scratch with support from our UK teams, and we are excited to lay the foundation for a team that will be the engine room of our business, providing the stock that fuels all other departments. We’re building a dynamic team that will span from entry-level ‘trainee’ appraisers to experienced ‘Senior’ appraisers, all working together to maintain high standards and drive the success of our European operation!
About the role:
As an appraiser at Arcavindi, you will appraise customers' items on a daily basis, collaborating with specialists and your team leader to assist you in making informed decisions. You will work independently as part of a larger appraisal team, striving to meet and exceed KPI targets. You will receive ongoing training and development throughout your day-to-day duties and from specialists. As an appraiser, you will always be learning, as anything could come through in a customer's box, and you will see things you have never seen before, even after years of experience.
Key Goals and Objectives
- Build up a comprehensive knowledge of vintage and antique items, including gold, silver, watches, jewellery, medals, toys, cameras, and other related categories.
- Accurately appraise 25-30 customer boxes every day.
- Ensure a quality control rate of at least 95% with no major errors, supported by routine audits from your team lead.
- Manage and maintain box acceptance rate, in line with the department's key performance indicators (KPIs).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
In your first three months you will:
- Learn how to appraise a diverse range of vintage and antique items.
- Receive and engage in training on a large range of product categories.
- Collaborate closely with your team leader and others across the team to support your learning and growth.
- Appraise 23-25 boxes per day. Attend regular one-to-one meetings with your team leader to discuss your progress and key performance indicators (KPIs).
In your first six months you will:
- Become an established member of the team, improving on your first three months' performance.
- Develop more in-depth knowledge of various categories.
- Maintain a quality control rate (QC%) of 95%+. Keep acceptance rate in line with department KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately, carefully, and efficiently appraise customers' items.
- Keep the work environment clean and tidy.
- Be open to changes in processes or environments and embrace them, bringing any new ideas to your Team Lead to improve the working environment and efficiency.
- Inform your manager immediately if you notice any health and safety concerns. Take advantage of self-learning opportunities and those provided to you.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Enthusiastic about vintage and antique products.
- Displays meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in accurate data entry.
- Exhibits strong multitasking abilities.
- Communicates effectively with diverse teams and departments.
- Adapts well to changes in the work environment.
- Values continuous learning.
- Exhibits punctuality and reliability.
- Demonstrates competence in IT skills.
- Able to perform tasks that may involve lifting boxes up to 25kg.
- Having prior experience in the jewellery or antiques trade would be beneficial but not essential.
