Accessibility and Disability Support and Issue Reporting

Indeed wants to ensure that everyone can use our platform. This article explains how we focus on accessibility. It includes which browsers and tools we support. It also covers common accessibility issues you can report to Indeed and what to include.

Indeed accessibility standards

Indeed is committed to accessibility and follows Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

How Indeed supports accessibility and disability

We work to make our platform easier to use for everyone. This includes:

  • Text that describes images and icons

  • Labels and instructions for forms

  • Screen reader support

  • Keyboard navigation

  • Color contrast that meets WCAG AA compliance standards

  • Clear page layouts

We also keep checking and improving accessibility across our platform.

Before you report an issue

Try these steps first:

If you use a screen reader

  1. Turn your screen reader off and on.

  2. Restart your device.

If you don't use a screen reader

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  2. Restart your browser.

Supported browsers and assistive technology

We support these combinations:

Windows

  • JAWS with Chrome

  • NVDA with Chrome

Mac

  • VoiceOver with Safari

  • VoiceOver with Chrome

iPhone and iPad (iOS)

  • VoiceOver with Safari

Android

  • TalkBack with Chrome

Common accessibility issues

Here's a non-exhaustive list of examples of issues you can report:

Content and descriptions

  • Missing image descriptions

  • Descriptions that don't match what they describe

  • Missing form instructions

  • Form labels not linked to form fields

  • Charts or data that are hard to understand

Screen reader issues

  • Missing or unclear announcements

  • Too many announcements

  • Wrong reading order

  • Focus jumping to unexpected places

  • Screen reader shortcuts not working

Keyboard issues

  • Can't reach parts of the page with a keyboard

  • Buttons or controls don't respond to the keyboard

  • Focus moves in the wrong order (keyboard or screen-reader focus changes location)

  • Screen reader shortcuts don't work well

Color and contrast issues

  • Text that's hard to read

  • Low color contrast

  • Information shown only by color

  • Problems with High Contrast Mode or custom styles

  • What the problem is

  • Page name or website address

  • Your browser and operating system

  • Assistive technology you use, if any

  • Version of your assistive technology

    • Examples are screen readers, Magnifiers, Voice control software, and High Contrast Mode
